John Felton As Of January 5, 2000
by Ivan Lentof
This is going to be fun. John asked me a few days ago to write a bit
about him and he said that he trusted me and he would put whatever I wrote about
him on his website. So, where shall I begin?
I've know John for about
10 years now and quite an interesting fellow he is.
While in Junior High he
played football, ran track, cross-country, intramural floor hockey (where he was
often picked first; this really built his self-confidence I think) and played
the saxophone in band. Oh, and I forgot, John had been in scouting since
he was 7 and did this all throughout Junior High as well. At this point in
his life he had an extremely underdeveloped sense of taste in such things as
music, movies, and personal identity. He did, however, show a talent for
picking good friends, manipulating teachers, and wearing relatively decent
looking clothes. The summer before high school John decided he might want
to try ice skating since he had never been and really enjoyed play floor
hockey. This was the logical next step. John did some kind of "
learn to skate program and in the fall, about the time he was starting his
Freshman year, he signed up to play on the Junior Hockey Club - "Sacramento
Flames" .
High school had its high and low points for John as they do for
most people. He continued playing the saxophone as well as experimenting
with other instruments. He was also in Boy Scouts all through high school
but these were about the only extracurricular activities he could fit in around
Ice Hockey. Let's see though I'm kinda losing focus here though, what else
can I tell you? Um, I don't think he ever had a real "girlfriend" in high school
although I saw him routinely flirting around with a few in particular ...he once
told me he never asked any of them out cause he couldn't drive, which "really
pissed him off and fucked up his social life". but anyways I don't think that
mattered too much ;-) Well, he graduated in May 1997 from Ponderosa High
School at age 17, and, since he couldn't work and still couldn't drive had no
other choice but follow in his kin's footsteps and attend CSUS in the fall.
John started college and did very well but I don't really think he knew what
he wanted. He got his first job the following summer at Hollywood
Video. That job rocked he would always bring over free video games and
movies. I think he worked there for about six months and after a short term at
Blockbuster (assholes) started working at the hospital. Oh, John got his
drivers license the summer before he started at Hollywood, and as a direct
result (IMHO), went on his first "date" that summer...Better late than never
buddy....He still in college where he plays on the Ice Hockey team and still
works at the hospital. That's John's life is short...
(at least what I
know anyways).
